I've notice that the brakes do't work as well when you are coasting on neutral. I think it's because when the car is in neutral, power is not being supplied to the brakes and so you can feel it fades a bit. When you're braking, step on the breaks to slow down until the engine RPM is low and about to stall the car then step on the clutch and put the gear into neutral to wait at a light. Learned that from driving school.

Always use the clutch. And there's no reason to put it in neutral unless you're stopped --- never coast in neutral.

When parking, use the parking brake only on level ground. On inclines, use the parking brake and put the car in gear AFTER enginge shutdown.
