Actually, if you read my post, I said that "redline all the way or *before* limiter cuts off gas). The 330Ci cuts off gas at ~6500rpm, and that's why I shift right before that (~6400rpm). You are absolutely correct about limiter, because once the limiter cuts off the gas, it will actually slow down the car (no gas). That's why we all shift right before hitting limiter or redline limits(except auto), to get max power. Trust me, my friend knew well what we need to do.

i agree with you on the shifting on the 330, and the times should also be reflective of that, but i don't know why you guys shifted until the limiter on all your test runs. i've done some dragging and seen a lot, and i wouldn't shift my 330ci at limiter...ever, maybe 6000. could also be true for the other cars. The times seem a little typical in a sense because at the drag racing i've seen ( illegal road racing ) many drivers, take their car to redline, then shift, much like you and your're friends did. From my knowledge, shifting like that will almost always be beaten by an automatic that's has a tested time possibly up to a second slower. simply put, your're auto times are fast, because you just step on that darn thing, the manual times are slow, each car has a different way it wants to be driven for the greatest speed.
