It was very interesting, but at this point, I think it's pretty dated. As I remember, he didn't really know what to make of synthetic oil. Their was one thing he did recommend, which was to use the severe service maintenance schedule. However, I don't think BMW publishes one, sice they use the service reminder computer.


Read a book many years ago - "Drive it forever"....Due to following this book, I got 200k miles on a Chevy Cavalier without any major mechanical problems! Anyways....This book strongly recommended getting an oil change within 500-1000 miles. The thinking was: with a new engine, you get more initial wear and metal particles in the oil during the early mileage period and its best to get them out ASAP.

I'm thinking of doing this for my 325ci when I get it (week 46 vehicle).

Any Opinions?
