Anyone have experience with leasing pre owned? (archive)

My brother is considering leasing a 540i but is wondering whether or not to lease a brand new one or a slightly used 2000. Just wondering if any of you have had any experience with leasing a used vehicle...does it make much difference or should he just lease a new one? IS the lease rate for a pre owned the same as for a brand new car? What about the residual value?
