A lot of the extra weight is reinforcement
around the windshield and A-pillars. If you
roll over in a convertible with the top down and
no roof to support you, the extra steel in there
will keep it from collapsing. Or so I've read.
It may slow your 0-60 a bit, but it could also
save your life.
