The tax does go on the VIN. The car is never even seen......


In many european countries, there is a tax on engine size. The large your engine, the more you have to pay. Debadging your car is a way to avoid drawing attention to the engine size. I have a friend in Italy that has debadged her C320 and her father has a "735" even though it is a 750iL.
