In Reply to: Question for those with the "rain-sensing" wipers. posted by Stu B on November 05, 2000 at 23:57:26:

I thought they worked great, especially in the intermittent rain. Just turn them on and they do all the work, wiping only when the windshield was wet. I almost wondered why I need the other settings.

I am second thinking the Premium Package we ordered on our forthcoming 330i. We ordered the Tanin Red interior and I think that the red on black combination looks much better with the aluminum trim than with the myrtle wood. And so does my wife. (a subjective opinion of course) We really do not need the power lumbar support. We have never used the adjustable lumbar option on any car we have ever owned. Even on long trips. I know the only way to get that feature is with the Premium Package and that to me is just plain stupid "package" bundling. But I digress there. And of course, I can order the rest of the package as stand alone options. Our car will not be built until January, so I have time to change my order.

However, the Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers really intrique me. I live in the Pacific Northwest on the rainy side of the Cascades and wiper performance is obviously important. My question is this: Are the Rain-Sensing wipers truly effective and do they really do what is advertised? Or are they a pain-in-the-kiester at times and activate when you dont want them to, or vice-versa? In other words, are they really worth having and do I want them inspite of my other desires aforementioned.
