Having had the chance to test drive some of the new Mercedes models at Comdex, I can tell you that BMW has nothing to worry about. I test drove the S430, CLK320, and C320. Its kind of like having to drink Pepsi, instead of the Coke you would normally drink. The C Class is nice, but I was not thrilled with the interior. People complain about the buttons on the BMW's, but you need some serious study time to navigate around the Mercedes interior. As far as driving was concerned theres no comparison, the steering feel is so much better in the BMW. If you want a car that will put a smile on your face every time you turn the key then BMW is probably for you. If you need to have a luxury name but dont really care about the performance aspect of the car as much as luxury go for the Mercedes. I left there knowing that I would probably be a lifetime BMW owner. As far as prestige, everywhere I go during the day I get nothing but compliments on my 330i. I cant say enough good things about the car, but everyone's needs are different. Good luck!

I have thoroughly studied both cars and am torn. The 330xi offers far superior steering and braking. Its about even in power and acceleration. The interior though is more sparten and feels tighter. The AWD is a definate advantage. The MB has a superior exterior design and cruising ride. The price is slightly better on the BMW but the Benz seems more luxurious. I am perpelexed. Anyone else wresetle with this?
