i dont know anything about h&r model numbers but there are some general guide lines to suspension upgrades. if you only lower the car and 1" or so... you are going to be ok with the stock shocks. ok meaning 'the ride will be harsher and the shocks will wear faster'. if you go and drop your car 2.75 inches you can kiss your stock shocks goodbye. additional value of getting shocks and springs together is that they may be tuned for each other... and more importantly... good aftermarket shocks can soften the transition to a lower ride height. stock shocks will not afford you this luxury. you also need to consider coil-over systems. really good coil over systems from companies like GroundControl and Koni can actually lower your vehicle and improve ride quality (though ride quality is obviously a very subjective value).
