i race my 323i on the weekends (SCCA/NASCAR track). so the DSC was a concern. WAS being the key word. here is what i know. there is much confusion with the ol'school bmw owners. when you say DSC they think ASC. ASC was 1999 and older traction control. it was apparently very restrictive and no serious drivers liked it. DSC is leaps and bounds better than ASC. many of the more experienced bmw drivers (mostly e36 m3 drivers) were skeptical of DSC but were pleasantly surprised by its behavior. It only really kicks in when you are in trouble... on the track i have never had it kick in when conditions are dry and when wet it has saved me 3 times.
