Either way, BMW or not, I will be making car payments because I will not have a car anymore.
I can afford $500-$600 max in car payments. I did account for taxation, food, shelter, fun, roth IRA, all that junk. It's still a little tight as I have about $700 left over each month.
If you're young and you have a bimmer, good work. If you're older and you worked hard to get yours, good work as well.
And I am hoping that my earning potential will increase over the years, BUT I am not counting on that because I want to be conservative with my budget planning.
How about a Z roadster? I leased my first BMW Z3 1.9L and the monthly payment was only $310 a month. BMW is having problems moving the Z3s right now and they'll probably have some very aggressive and attractive lease terms for these vehicles, and that would leave a little more to manuever under your budget...And you'd get a much faster, better performance car for your money (but not one tenth as practical). Since you'll be coming from a very small vehicle (Civic coupe) you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much interior space is in the Z. :)
