painting amber reflectors -- DIY or body shop? (m) (archive)

Hi,

I'm planning to get the clear lights for my 330ci, and am also thinking about painting over the amber reflectors. (Yes, I realize that this is illegal.)

1. With the painted-over reflector, what does it look like when you signal? ....i.e., does the paint prevent all light from getting out? ...or ..??

2. I bought some touch-up paint when I was in Munich (cheap, $6). Should I just do this myself or does body shop have "something special" (tool, skill? haha) that would justify me taking in the touchup paint and having them do it for a nominal fee.

Thanks,
Brian
