The were given to me as a gift years ago. They are black plastic (some sort of super-strong expanded styrene that is chemical resistant). They handle 12,000 lbs. (GVW) and lift the front of the car about 6-8" off the ground. The best part is that they have a very low angle of approach! I have yet to find a stock car that hits the ramps. They are wide enough to handle 275 mm tires too, and very stable. Yes, I swear by them.

They were sold under the name "Rhino Ramps" but now can be found in many BMW parts magazines (obviously somebody is still using the molds). They are in "Rock Mountain Motorworks" for $49.00 a pair in their current catalog (part named Rhino Ramps).
