the new z3 3.0 liter engine got new transmission and steptronic's and manual's 0-60 time is about the same. step=6.0s, manual=5.9s. I was wonder how come BMW don't give 330 a new transmission like that? damn
about ..7/10 to 5/10 slower than stick check
BMWUSA.com.
Racer's 0-60 times are as posted on BMW's site. If you note the tech specs of the z3, calculating the gears w/ the final drive ratio you will find them very close (+/- a couple of percent) and figuring in the torque converter stall speed (on the automatic = same as slipping the clutch to get into the "sweet spot" on launch), they would produce very similar resuls, ie. 5.9-6 sec. The 3 Series have considerably different gear ratios as calculated with the final drive thus producing as you said a 1/2 - 7/10 sec. difference with the auto being slower. OR NOT... Whatever.
