330i SP sloppy feel and steering issue revisited (archive)

I I drove an early 2001, 330I with a Sports Package in July or August 2000. The car felt just right, 100%. In November I drove an identically optioned 2001 car through the same road course. The car felt different, vague, sloppy and indirect. Did BMW change the suspension calibration in any way? Did they soften the car? I am going to drive another 330I and see if the bad impression was due to something caused by factors not connected with the car.

By the way I called BMWNA regarding the steering problem. They told me that the steering effort change is a simple adjustment any dealer can easily take care of. I called our local dealer’s service adviser. He had no idea what I was talking about.
