The second half is finding a dealer who believes it can be done. For example, while it's practically common knowledge here that any 3 can be painted Topaz Blue, the dealer I bought from considered it "impossible, and if not impossible, would take four months." (It was irrelevant to me, as I wanted Steel Blue; the topic just came up in conversation.)

I don't know how much it makes sense to "educate" dealers, as they often seem resistant to such attempts. It may be easier to ask people in your area if they know any "enlightened" dealers.
