1. Yes, the manual is more fun to drive.

2. Would the auto disappoint you? Depends on what you're looking for.

3. Is the auto still fast and fun? Yes on both counts.

4. If the BMW will be the first stick-shift you will own, either learn on a cheaper car that's easier to fix, or get the auto. This is even more true if you live in an area that's hilly like San Francisco.

5. If you have to drive regularly in heavy traffic, that's simply another reason to get an auto.

6. Planning to test drive both? That's the best idea and advice you'll get.

Take your time to think your options through...really take your time. It's easy to want something; it's a lot harder to want it after you get it. Happy shopping and good luck!
