I think everyone missed the point of the original post! You cannot play MP3's on a stock CD changer if you don't have a head unit that does the conversion! Kenwood has a in-dash CD-R/CD-RW/MP3 player. I believe Aiwa now has one as well. There are a couple of small manufacturers out there that have MP3 changers that use laptop hard drives and there's always the 6 gig portable Creative Labs Nomad if you have inputs. If you want to go low end, there are some portable no-name brand cd/mp3 players for under $200. You can however convert MP3's back to wav and make a custom CD but that is painfully slow and you can only get 9 - 23 songs on a CD-r versus up to 150 MP3's on a CD-r. I suggest the portable Nomad for under $500 and it is the size of a portable cd player.
Basically I'm trying to get songs and then burn them onto CDs to play in the OEM CD Changer.
1) Should I care about the bitrate listed for the songs I find? Will too high a rate screw up the CD player? Too low?
2) Does burn speed matter? My CD-Recorder will do 2x, 4x, or 8x.
3) Does the type/brand of disc matter? If so what's the best? I heard that silver CD-Rs are better than others. Is this true? If so what's the reason?
4) If you don't buy jewel cases how do you label/store your CDs?
Thanks in advance!
Rex
