I don't really know about balance, but the engine sound, more linear torque, bigger tires, and more exclusive is worth the extra $$. You can cut back on leather and moonroof to save about $2500. I came from 78 930 turbo, '82 911 SC.


I have owned 4 Porsches from the 911 series and 2 others. I traded a 996 on my recent 330ci and I'm enjoying it. The other guys from the Porsche club are a little puzzled with me though.
