No matter how many speakers there are - they are all of really bad quality (as i found out when I ripped them out), and so is the original stereo (which I also ripped out). Observe that you donīt have to be an audiophile person to feel this way, Iīm not. Also note that the 5-series have different components in this respekt (another sub-supplier for both stereo and speakers), and therefore much better sound. Even with the "10"-speaker system in a 3-series, the sound is not acceptable taking into account that you are buying a premium car. I told this to my dealer who recommended me to opt for the 10-speaker system (the HK-system was not available). Thank god I tried the 10-speaker system in another car before I made up my mind! It was no good at all. The guy who ordered the 10-speaker system got his money back!
A nice guy told me how to get a good sound for small money. So i ripped out the original stereo in my 2000 323Ci and put in an Alpine unit and new front speakers (Infinity Reference 5.25" component system). Watch out for the side-airbags when doing the latter part! If you want to go one step further you should also rip out the rear speakers (this time using Infinity Reference 5,25 coaxal), I did not go one step further but Iīm really satisfied with the result and would recommend everybody to at least rip out the original head-unit and front spekers. Letīs hope BMW goes for another sub-supplier in the future!

any out there change their speakers on their 2001 BMW 330Ci? i've heard so many different takes on this. first of all, i can't find anyone who can tell me what size speakers are in front and what size are in the rear...plus i can only find 8 of the 10 speakers. 3 dealers i talked with don't know anything about the speakers and can't tell me where the other 2 are. i went to a couple shops and one says i shouldnt' change them at all because the stock speakers are so good (not the HK system). the other place would do it..they would use 5.25 components in front and back..which still doesn't explain where the last 2 speakers are...personally i think the stereo sounds good, but i've heard better..which is why i want to change..

thanks
