I've noticed this when I'm rolling over stop signs. Sometimes, I don't completely stop to full "halt" at stops. So, when it's rolling a little bit, instead of starting in 2nd, when I want more power, I down into 1st. That's when I notice the problem.

Anyone notice when down-shifting into 1st from 2nd produces a small clunk noise, and a noticeable jerk? It's definately not as smooth as from 3rd into 2nd.

I'm seeing this when I down shift at low speeds, maybe 3-5 miles / hour.

why would anyone want to downshift into 1st?!! that fucks up your tranny...i only SHIFT into 1st when the car is completely at a halt!!...and i drive manual...i dont suggest downshifting into first while the car is still moving on any tranny!!!


even at low speeds you will put a lot of stress on the tranny. its just normal to feel the engine buckle into first because theres too much of a torque conversion..but if i were you..practice the full 3 sec stop..look both ways and proceed with caution..hahah!! have fun!!
