Obviously a step is different, and I'm not a transmision expert. But I do use engine braking a lot, and I never downshift into 1st.


Anyone notice when down-shifting into 1st from 2nd produces a small clunk noise, and a noticeable jerk? It's definately not as smooth as from 3rd into 2nd.

I'm seeing this when I down shift at low speeds, maybe 3-5 miles / hour.
