If you don't believe me, try stomping on the throttle while moving at about 3-5 MPH in "D" or "SD." It WILL downshift to first and I don't think engineers would put a shift program in the car that would damage the tranny. Also, as far as relating this to the manual tranny, auto trannies shift much different than manuals, auto's must downshift through each gear when coming to a stop.
