Where can I get trashed/salvage E46 headlamps? (archive)

Howdy folks,

I'm usually on the M3 boards, but I hope that some of you E46 folks might know where dead headlamps go.

A while back someone posted on E36M3 about replacing the E36 lowbeam lens and reflector with the projector lens and reflector from an HID-equipped E46 headlamp assembly. It really seems to be a nice solution since the US headlamp pattern is so diffuse. I want to track down 2 trashed/salvage E46 headlamp assemblies that were fitted with projector lenses and reflectors for use with Xenon HIDs. As long as the projector lenses are intact, it doesn't matter if the headlamp cover or the outer housing is in rough shape, I'm planning on extracting the lenses and reflectors and bonding them into my E36 assemblies. I just need the lenses and reflectors from the inside of the headlamps, I don't need HID bulbs, ballasts, etc.

Anyone have any leads? I'm going to be calling salvage yards on Monday.

re: E46 - test drove a 330ci the other day. It was a lot more luxurious and comfy than my M3. Seems to be the perfect car for a high-speed cross-country trip.
