I have some concerns about the most popular design (#21) and I think the other ones like #52 deserve more attention. Although number 52 did not receive the most votes I still think it is the best logo for Bimmer.org, and here is my reasoning. One; it is an abstract use of the BMW logo, which is an original idea and avoids any copyright issues, but at the same time you still know it is about BMWs. Two; it uses a recognized BMW car but without showing any logos/ badges, so again you can
tell it is referring to BMW, but no copyright issue. #21 is a good design and idea but, it's just not quite as original as #52, because it is pretty
much the same thing as the BMW Motorsport and CCA Club Racing logos:

Not to mention that ERT uses it too!

To me it seems like Bimmer.org should choose something unique and distinctive so people know it is it's own organization and is not officially affiliated with any other companies, clubs, etc. At first glance #21 automatically makes me think of BMW Motorsport/Club Racing instead of Bimmer.org. And maybe the checkered logo on the hood of the M3 LTW is actually a trademarked design after all and CCA has express permission to use it in their logo.

This is why I support # 52, once people become familiar with the logo the first thing that will come to their mind is Bimmer.org. It is unique and original but still makes you think of BMWs with out infringing on any copyright issues and as was mentioned before these are drafts that can be edited to fit the exact needs of Bimmer.org. #21 looks like everything else we've already seen out there. Remember, this is just my humble opinion and I want to congratulate all the designers on a job well done!

Thanks,
Aaron
