$1000 for CD-Changer with installation, reasonable (archive)

Place my ordered on the car already, but we went for in-dash instead of CD-Changer because they quoted $1000 for the whole material and installation. I am rethinking about it because my gf's sis wants to connect her MD player using the tape slot. How much do you pay for your CD-Changer?
