This may be a little premature, but I'm so anxious to get the car!! I'm graduating in June and I'm hoping to have a silver 330Ci ready for me by then (hopefully putting down the deposit to get it made over Spring Break). I want the premium sound so that I'll have the 12 harmon-kardon speakers (including 2 subs), but does anyone know if the standard or CD changer stereo face is easily replaced by another stereo, say Sony or something of the sort? I know with my current BMW (1983 320i, hehe), the stereo switch wasn't too bad, but it seems to me according to the pictures I've seen and the cars I've seen at car shows that maybe the 330s would require quite a bit of mangling to get another face to fit in, in which case I'll just get the CD player face and maybe get a MD/CD changer installed later. Anyone have this similar question or know the answer?? I appreciate it. :)
BMW does not use a standard size faceplate as well as standard depth...I think with a wiring harness you really have to look out for clearance in the back of the dash. Whatever "bracket" you get will look like CRAP. My suggestion is to just get the BMW business CD if you want in dash CD, and work on the amps and speakers because they are much less unsightly than to do your headunit, also the steering wheel controls will still work if you leave the head unit along.
By the way, graduating from college or highschool?
