330 xi temperature gauge staying around the blue (archive)

My 330 xi seems to be having some temperature problems...
My temperature gauge idol is fluctuating between the blue and the middle. Even when the car should be warm, the idol stays around the blue area. This just happend this weekend, and now my check engine light just came on. Has anybody experienced the same thing. I simply wanna have an idea before going to the dealership. I have less then 5000 miles on the car.
