Climate Control's fan went crazy on auto settin(m) (archive)

the fan in the climate control is usually steady (i have in auto setting). but yesterday the fan blew like it had a gust of wind in its system--blow hard then simmer down, then blow hard again. three hours later the problem wasn't there anymore. any explanation for this. TIA.
