No, not normal.
1. Try a brand new CD. There should be a demo CD ("BMW Audiophile Demonstration Disk") from BMW with various types of music in your glovebox (just in case yours are systematically dirty or warped or whatever from a previous player, heat, etc.).
2. If it is subtle, then it could be a function of the automatic speed-sensitive volume adjustment. If so, then your problem should not occur when the car is parked. The gain for this can be adjusted in the "secret menu" (search archives, can't recall if in FAQ).

Otherwise, something's wrong.

Hi, just got a 330i and noticed that when playing CDs the volume fades out for 20-30 seconds then back to normal. It happens on and off and on different CDs. Anybody else have this problem?

It is an indash single CD - BMW Business CD.

Thanks!
