At this level ("highline" BMW sales) I never hire anyone without specific previous auto sales experience. Years ago when I ran a Jeep store i used to (as a training exercise) require my new salespeople to pretend they were buyers, and "mystery shop" other dealers. I did so for several reasons. I wanted them to see what the buyer really feels like and experiences, and I wanted them to experience what the "typical" car salespeople were like. Needless to say, it was a very valuable training exercise. I do believe that anyone (buyers) were to experience what salespeople go through, they too would walk away with significant (if not "breakthrough") insights (and understanding/appreciation) for those who attempt to earn a living retailing automobiles...

you mean the sales guys should take a walk in the buyers shoes? or we as a buyer should cut the sales guy a little slack?
