My friend has a 2000 328i manual and took me for a spin and it corners extremely well- and he doesn't have the sport package. If I were you I wouldn't get the sport package. These may seem minor but here are my reasons for not getting it:
1) Low-profile tires wear faster
2) Tires more expensive to replace
3) Without sport car handles just about as good
4) Smoother ride
5) Better traction in snow if you drive in it

MAKE SURe you get the Xenon headlights-even if it's just for the looks!!! I have heard the reg stereo and it sounds fine; personally 10 speakers is fine. The in-dash Cd player is well worth it. I am going to get leatherette seats in my 325i, so DO get them.-(save yourself $1500!)

I drove a 328iC (borrowed for five days from a photographer I worked for in high school for my Senior Ball), and have to admit it handled reasonably well; I'm curious about handling on the track, however. Guess I'll just have to drive one and see. *grin*

Note that I won't be doing any test-drives until October (when I plan on ordering), because I'm not that much of a masochist. I'm already *really wanting* a Bimmer, and this is just from remembering how much of a blast driving a 328iC was about two years ago.

That, and since I'm ordering in October, I'll be getting a 2002. Know if they're going to make any changes?

I'm getting the Xenons because I have seen the difference first-hand, and it is (bad pun, I know) literally night-and-day. I really couldn't care less how my headlights look at night (well, other than not wanting to utterly blind oncoming traffic).
