If youstick a supercharger on them, they'll pull more air, but under normal aspiration, the extra air would not be much more.

There are other things you can reprogram in chips. I'm not too familiar witht the E46 ones (yet), but I know in the E36s, some of the things you could change were remove the rev limiter, change timing, air intake, and fuel curves.

I'm not too sure what they did at AA to get the extra power, but it sounds like a reasonable gain.

I'll be putting my car in the workshop to get it tuned. Hopefully we can overcome the timing issue for supercharging. I can let you know how that goes.
