there is a retaining wall or something next to you to bounce the sound back. No kidding! At least on my 323i, the intake starts to whistle when approaching redline, and has a jet-like sound. Whether by design or not, it sounds sweet. These engines are built to REV!

I have 500 miles on my 325i so far. I have been following break-in procedures, but can't wait to red line this baby and see what it's got. So far, I am satisfied with the power and have only rev'ed it up to about 4500 rpms on the tach. My question is...how much more power does it make between 4.5K and redline (6K). I am dying to do it...but really want to follow break in procedures. So tell me what I am missing? What can I expect? Low end torque seems a bit low, but at 3K rpms, the car seems to jump and really start to get up and go. Passing in 5th gear from 70-80 mph allows plenty of power, but when going 3K to 4K on the tach in 4th gear, it doesn't seem much faster. Does the power build and build till 6K on the tach? Enlighten me!!!
