I was in a similar predicament a few weeks ago except i was deciding between a CLK320 and a 330Ci. In my opinion, on the 325ci v c230k, the 325 wins easily in the looks column, as well as the overall driving experience/fun. MB does have more prestige, yet I only recommend them for people who prefer more luxury and a softer ride to pure driving fun with a little less luxury. My mom has a MB E320 and it handles really well and has plenty of power, yet when you drive it, it feels like you are in a cadillac or something more geared towards older drivers (maybe your case?). Just to make you decision a bit more confusing =), I suggest you look at some Lexus's too. Even though I'm going to order a 2002 330Ci, I have been very happy with the Lexus I have right now (a RX300 SUV - but I'm talking more about overall quality). They are very reliable cars and the service can't be beat. good luck.
