I also have a 99 323i 4 door sedan and I've had the same vibration when braking since after 6 months of purchasing the car. I had gone to the dealer at least 6 times complaining about the same problem. Then finally I contacted BMW North America to take a look into my problem. The dealer claimed they could not find anything wrong with my brakes. Finally, after a engineer from BMWNA had looked at my car, he found that the front lower control arm was defective. BMWNA replaced the control arm as a warranty item. My car seems to be ok at this point, but for some reason, everytime I step on the brakes, I get this squeaking sound. I've had this squeaking sound ever since i have purchased my car, and the dealers say this is a common problem for BMW's. I also have a friend who has s 99 BMW M3 and he said he also has brake squeaks from now and then. I don't believe this is a normal squeak sounds for BMW's. But I just don't know what to do at this point. Hope this helps you. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions.
I have a 99 323i. I believe (but I'm not sure) there is a service bulletin for this out there.
I know this has been posted before, but I need some advice.
I've been living with a steering vibration when braking for a while now.
Both dealers that I vistited claim there is nothing wrong.
Today I posted my concern on owner's circle, hopefully BMW NA will respond and take some action.
Assuming they do take action - I have a set of aftermarket wheels (ATP type 5 17 inch - 225 40 17 - all 4).
If I'm asked to bring the car to the service - do I need to change my wheels to stock? The problem occurs regardless of wheels.
Thanks.
