I suppose I should do like TD does and ask you to search the archives first....

1999 and 2000 and early 2001 cars (including my 330i) did not have DBC (Dynamic Brake Control). The DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system was integrated with the ABS system and the ABS/DSC controller is that thing with the metal lines in the passenger side cavity to the rear of the engine compartment.

When BMW introduced DBC the controller seems to have been moved elsewhere, which is why the newer cars don't have anything in that cavity. Don't worry, of course you have ABS/DSC (and DBC), it's just that the controller was moved.
