For those of you who don't know whether or not to get leather in your new e46 BMW, I think you should. I have leather in my 2000 323i and I've conditioned it (Lexol) about 3 times in my 16 months of ownership. I'm now living back in Los Angeles, and whenever I take an old friend for a drive in my car, they comment on the condition and smell of the leather. I think the leather is one of the best options for the money.I have black leather on my 323Ci and my wife has black 'ette on her 323Ci. Trust me, it's not worth $1,400.
