I think the back piece of headrests are 'ette. I think the door panel has a layer of 'ette with a leather sheet sewn to the top. The side pieces of the seat are 'ette. You would not want those pieces to be real leather as it would sag with age and would not keep it's shape well.


BMW is one company that does not do the leather seating surfaces. When you order the leather option, you get a seat completely covered in leather (minus the plastic back panel) and door panels that are also covered in leather. If you order leather you will have to look hard to find any leatherette in the car besides the small fabric piece underneath the sterring column. If you don't believe me, you can take apart your seat and check it or look in the archives a for a couple months ago when Jon Shafer verified that the seats and door panels are all leather.
