First of, there aren't many cells they can use. These are the people who have to be absolutely royal, have gone through a lot of trainings, and have been in the developed countries, especially U.S. for a long period of time. So they are precious resources not like the supporting crews. I don't see any reason for them to take the high risk of being arrested just for trying another attack a couple of days after the attack. They can try new attacks whenever they feel the security in the airports is not as high as right now. Say two or three months later.
Secondly, think of tuesday's attack as the begining of a war just as Bush announced and Bin Laden himself declared (he said he would start a war against U.S. a couple of months ago). What are the basic components in a war? Soilders and tactical movements. Think this war as a chess game. The core of a chess game is to guess the opponent's next move. And the more you can see your opponent's moves, the more optimum your move will be. The goal of the moves is to arrange your pieces into the best positions for attacking and defending. Usually you will try to keep your pieces from being captured, but when it's necessary, you will have to or would like to sacrifice some of your pieces in exchange of best possible positioning of your pieces.
So what's we've seen here? The terrorists are sacrificing their precious cells (the pieces in a chess game). What does it imply? It implies the sacrificing is for the next move. Then what's the next move? I don't know. Why do they sacrifice the cells? This question indeed intrigues all my analysis. I hadn't been that concerned about these guys until I saw the above piece of news. I believe they have different plots going on at the same time. Tuesday's attack is only one of the many plots. And the most difficult one. These guys are clever. They made the most difficult move when FBI and CIA were caught unprepared. That's the begining of the game. This is also very import in chess and go. The order of the moves will make a hell of difference. The people who have pilot licenses were trained specifically for this task. When it's done, it's done. The rest of the pilots who couldn't board a plane on tuesday is useless anymore for the next move, because the next move wouldn't be the same attack. Their specialties make them important in the first attack, but not the next.
But they are still useful in the sense that they will drag the FBI and CIA and exhaust their resources so that they might not be able to find other plots and cells that are involved in other plots. That's exactly the reason these guys were still trying to get aboard the plane. If they can manage another attack, it's a bonus. Otherwise, they didn't lose anything anyway. And I am pretty sure they will give useful information to the FBI and CIA to give them leads to chew on. Problems are these leads won't be able to lead the FBI and CIA to other guys in other plots or moves since they are acting totally independently.
What is going to be the next target? I don't know. But I guess the final target is the new york stock exchange. Why is that? Well, if these guys are declaring a war against U.S. They wouldn't really care about if they could get the President or not. They wouldn't care about how many planes they crash. They wouldn't care about how many buildings they bomb. In order to win this war, the only hope for them (before they get crashed) is the crashing of the U.S. economy. And I am convinced that their ultimate target will be the financial district.
It's a chess game with a lot of moves involved while the ultimate goal is to destroy america's economy. Not to be surprised when you see other moves like possible attacks in the subway because they are just moves before the checkmate.
The loose end of the above is why they didn't attack the stock exchange and other institutions first? The only explanation I have is that these guys are way too smart. They know bombing a building is the easiest task for them. They had so much experience learned from bombing in Israel. It's much easier here because it's a much opener environment. We can't question any Mideastern looking guy just because he's walking toward the stock exchange, can we? So they did the most difficult, the most terrible attack first to instill terrors into every american. Then use subsequent smaller attackes which they are sure they can make to torture everyone before the checkmate.
I might be totally wrong, which I hope so. But I've been really concerned since I heard FBI arrested someone trying to board the planes again. I aussme these guys are clever. We should never underestimate our enemy and I hope that FBI and CIA are not only being focused on tuesday's attack.
