Cop pulled me over 4 weeks ago and said similar things about driving a "fast" car. Or to him a car that looks "fast". He actually asked me twice if I was driving a M3. Same thing: Sir, with such a fast car, you've to slow down. Blah blah...

So there is a discriminating issue here with Bimmer drivers in LA.

I hate this.

Now, the funny part... I was in my brother's Honda Civic (1994 LX Sedan 5-speed with 120,000 miles on it). My 5-speed 330i is home clean in the garage.

I went over to pick up his car, so we can sell it, and was zipping around town at moderate speeds (no more than 10 mph over the posted limits). I came around a corner at dusk and noticed a car coming in the other direction. I needed to make a left across traffic, so I slowed to wait for it to pass. It stopped to waive me by... and it was a cop (I couldn't tell because it was dusk). I went, and his lights all went on. Damn.

He said he pulled me over for driving "spirited" and no front plate. Actually, the front plate was the main violation... but since it was my brothers car, he would let me off.

The best part was during the lecture... when he said "...your car must be a lot slower, because you apparently aren't used to how quick these cars are..." I could have died. He asked what I drive... and I said a Volvo wagon. I kept a poker face.

He let me go.
