I know it is totally confusing. Both hate and love are evolutionary strategies. The word stategy is confusing, because it doesn't imply intelligence.

Our natural balance was found in hunter-gatherer days. Love kept the tribe together, hate kept the other tribes/aggressors at bay.

Not pretty but reality. Hunter-gatherers living in the 21st century. Our brains have evolved very little since then, only our weapons have evolved.
