You're very likely giving up some of your engine's power by using low octane fuel. If the difference in cost of fuel is that important to you, it's clear that you bought the wrong car, as you are essentially abusing it. You shouldn't have bought ANY BMW, as I think they all use premium. But if you are that interested in saving money, and the power loss doesn't concern you, why didn't you just save a few thousand dollars and buy the 325?

Also your statement that it would even be OK if the engine knocked is completely false. However, I suspect you know that and you're just "trolling."

(And how do you know your engine is "fine?" Has it been disassembled and inspected? Yes, it's probably OK because the engine is able to adjust for you're unconcern. But will the knock sensors work OK forever?

Expert advice on fuel is always to use the grade of fuel the manufacturer recommends and no more (because it's a waste of money).

Do you also use non-synthetic oil? Wouldn't that also save you some money, since you don't seem to care about performance or long-term reliability?

Anybody think I'm being unfair here?
