330xi tire troubles (archive)

I just popped two tires in a single day (both front), both from potholes in Manhattan. I know low profile tires are more likely to go from this, but come on. I know at least one tire popped at the sidewall. Also, I previously had a defective tire (all are the originals) that bulged at the sidewall. I'm waiting to see how BMW handles this before I do anything rash. Has anyone had any trouble with these tires? Anyone put higher profile wheels/tires on a 330xi? If so, how's the handling and suspension. Any comments, suggestions? I checked the pressure two days earlier, set it to 33psi.
