I think that the ECIS page recommended cleaning at 15,000 mi. If it is just a cheap filter, I might as well just buy a new filter if I'm not confident about the cleaning process. Obviously, I would keep the stock one.

BTW, do you know how long the stock paper filter is supposed to last?
