Completely different animals from BMWs. Still I give my respects to their undeniable achievements in rally championships.

I think you just answered your own question. The very fact that it's not that easy to acquire, the more one is facsinated and intrigued. And in my case, fascination grows exponentially with difficulty of owning one. Have probably told you before. Give me a choice between E46 M3 and Alpina B3. I will take the latter. Same with E39 M5 and Alpina B10 V8. I will be most ready to acquire the latter. Oh..and doesn't mean if one has tons of wealth, Alpina will always sell you one of their models anyway. Arrogance? Perhaps. But with a workforce of 190 and only a few hundred cars produced each year, you can imagine the wait list. So far, I have acquired the Softline infamous wheels and spoilers. And I love their attention to details in design and quality. Not that BMW never take it to this level, but Alpina brought it up further. Sure, "posuer", you must be thinking. But it's a passion that does not need to be comprehensible.
