If it's a clanking sound, have them check the brakes for a loose backing plate. I believe there is a fix for the 528i (there's no fix yet for the 540i, but they can tighten it).

: In my E39 (60,000 km on the clock) there is a bumping noise in the front suspension now and then when running over small bumps. It is especially noticeable when running over small humps (upward bumps). The noise comes from the left side.

: Have anyone had problems with any bearings or bushings in the front suspension on an E39?
