A while ago Consumer Reports did an extensive study on oil changes and engine life. Using a fleet of New York City cabs, they found no differences in cars that had their oil changed frequently versus cars that didn't change oil at all. Their conclusion was that changing your oil every 3,000 miles or so was no better than not changing your oil more than once a year. I still change my oil every 3500 miles...can't quite accept the concept of not changing oil just yet.
