Here's what you need.
Chrome + Black trim (non-sports E39 model)
51-11-8-226-559 Chrome strip
51-11-8-226-565 Black Rubber Strip

E39 Sport model (no chrome strip, just black rubber strip)
51-11-8-174-850 (black rubber strip)

If all else fails, can't get the rights parts from your vendor. You can call Tom (Parts Dept.) @ Assael BMW 1800-655-4269 (626-358-4269), he went through the wrong parts combo and then made it right at the end. He'll know what's up and help you. I bugged him enough that I think he'll remember "Mark, Aspen Silver 5 series, replacement strip," in his dreams.

: A while ago, Marco posted a very complete message that contained the part#'s for the bumper trim pieces that replaces the trim piece that holds the front license plate. I thought I read the post carefully and ordered the necessary piece but I only received the chrome trim piece and NOT the black plastic trim piece that goes along with it. I have the premium package trim (chrome + black trim) and apparently it is a two-piece deal. As far as I can tell, this older post is now gone and didn't make the archive schedule. If anyone can pass along the part number for the black plastic piece that I'm looking for I'd really appreciate it.
