Had similar problem a while back in my '90 535i. Turned out to be a bad heater control valve. They're located under the hood just forward of the firewall on the driver's side under a flat black plastic cover ~4" square. One of mine was stuck open.

Good luck.

Joe

: Does anyone happen to know where the stepper motor that controls driver's side temperature is located?
: Just had a problem today - full heat to the driver's side regardless of the temp selector setting. The passenger side *does* respond the full heat/full cool (master) settings on the driver's side selector, BTW.
: There are 2 motors located above the driver's footwell, but I determined that one was the recirc inside air valve. The other I'm not sure of. After pulling the radio, I also saw one just right of the OBC unit but couldn't tell what it operated. Does the new Bentley manual give much info?
:
: Any help greatly appreciated!
